About Moisture Traps
Moisture Traps
Water condenses in every biogas line and it is critical that this water is bled out of the system without gas loss. Combustion Research Associates designs and manufactures Moisture Traps, that can easily be incorporated into pipework, to bleed this water out.
When gas enters the Moisture Trap, it impinges upon the special created surface with flow reversals, causing coalescence leading to the conversion of moisture into water droplets which in turn fall into the base of Moisture Trap. It also has a mechanical auto-drain system (optional) which drains out the water as it crosses a certain level in the tank.

FAQs of Moisture Traps:
Q: How does a moisture trap enhance the efficiency of pneumatic systems?
A: A moisture trap removes water vapor and particles from compressed air, preventing corrosion and mechanical failure in pneumatic systems. This extends equipment lifespan and reduces costly downtime.
Q: What materials are used in the construction of these moisture traps?
A: The moisture traps utilize aluminum alloy or stainless steel bodies, with bowls made from sturdy polycarbonate protected by a metal guard, or high-strength aluminum, ensuring reliability and durability.
Q: When should a moisture trap be installed in an air compressor setup?
A: Moisture traps should be installed whenever compressed air is used in industrial processes, especially when equipment is sensitive to water damage. Early installation helps avoid equipment deterioration.
Q: Where in the system can these moisture traps be mounted?
A: These moisture traps are designed for versatile mounting options; they can be installed directly onto pipelines or mounted on walls, adapting to various configurations of pneumatic infrastructure.
Q: What process does the trap use to remove moisture from air?
A: The trap filters out particles down to 5 microns and separates water vapor from the air flow using a specialized mechanism. The accumulated moisture is discharged automatically or manually via the drain system.
Q: Which sizes and connection types are available for different models?
A: Available sizes include 1/4 inch, 1/2 inch, 3/4 inch, and 1 inch, with connection options featuring threaded BSP or NPT standards to fit a wide range of compressors and air tools.
Q: What are the main benefits of using these moisture traps in industrial applications?
A: Besides preventing costly equipment damage, moisture traps ensure consistent air quality, boost system efficiency, and reduce maintenance requirements in compressors, air tools, and pneumatic systems.
